Traveling to another state or county? No problem. The frequency you are looking for will be there to add to a separate scanlist. The included SD memory card includes USA frequencies listed at http://www.radioreference.com or add your favorite frequency by using included software and SD card reader.

The step-by-step instructions and Quick Guide are clear, quick and easy. The enhanced layout makes it easy for one hand operation. Easy one button access to weather band with S.A.M.E. technology.

The EZ Scan-SD is capable of storing unlimited frequencies that can be categorized into 50 scanlists. Alpha tags allows for easy renaming of scanlists. Includes 200 V-Scanner (virtual scanner) for ease of backing up existing scanlists for better management.

Removable antenna with BNC connector to allow for replacing with a stronger antenna such as the CC Gainer Antenna or the Coaxial Scanner Antenna.

The EZ Scan-SD operates on 2 "AA" Alkaline or NiMH rechargeable batteries (not included).

USB cable included for program updates and charging NiMH batteries. Charging time is approximately 5 hours. Boxwave Versa Charger Pro can be used to charge batteries or to operate scanner.

Operation

I put batteries in my scanner but it will not power on. What is wrong?

Check the Master Switch under the flap on the left side. It needs to be switched to ON.

Can I use a different USB to mini USB cable with my scanner?

No, you must use the included USB cable that is specifically designed for this scanner.

What frequencies are pre-programmed on the included SD card?

USA frequencies that are listed on www.RadioReference.com website can be found on the SD card.

Is the EZ Scan Software compatible with my Mac?

No, the software supports Windows 2000, XP, Vista and 7 operating systems.

Can I update the scanner database and my configurations using the USB charging cable?

No, the USB charging cable is for charging the batteries and upgrading firmware. A SD card reader will be needed to update the scanner database and configurations using the software program.

How long will it take to charge a set of 2 AA NiMH rechargeable batteries with the included USB cable?

It will take approximately 5 hours to fully charge a set of 2 AA (2500 mAh) rechargeable batteries.

How long will a fresh set of AA Alkaline batteries power the radio?

A set of AA Alkaline batteries rated at 2800 mAh would provide roughly 10 hours of operation.

Is there an optional AC adapter available?

No, but the included USB charging cable can be used with an alternative USB power source such as the Boxwave Versa Charger Pro to charge the batteries or power the scanner.

Can I use a USB extension cable to charge the batteries in my scanner?

Yes, but the USB charging cable included with the scanner must be connected directly to the scanner and then to the USB extension cable.

After you get through the instructions that are just one notch above useless for us non-techno folks and experiment with it for a few days it is without a doubt the finest scanner one could have!! It is a battery hog so buy a charger and extra batteries. Right now, it is a five star unit on my desk and I'm a retired cop.
