CC SW Pocket AM/FM/SW Radio |
|
|
|
|
- CC SW Pocket
- Wrist Lanyard
- Carry Pouch
- Instruction Manual
- One Year Limited Warranty
|
In a true testament to its quality and performance, the modestly priced CC SW Pocket has been voted "Best Travel Radio under $200.00" by Passport to World Band Radio. The CC SW Pocket AM/FM/Shortwave Radio has exceptional AM reception and audio quality and is sensitive enough to outperform most radios in its class. And it's still small enough to tuck in your briefcase, purse or carry-on bag. You can quickly and easily retrieve up to 200 of your favorite AM/FM and Shortwave stations in any order by simply turning the tuning knob and taking advantage of a smart feature called "Favorites". You won't lose the stations saved in the memory when you take out the batteries. The CC SW Pocket also has a keypad for direct access to any frequency. Features include: built-in speaker, alarm clock, direct key entry, stereo headphone jack, sleep timer, display light and backstand. Includes carry pouch and lanyard. FM 70.0-108.0 MHz, AM 522-1620, (9k) / 520-1710 (10k), SW1 2300-7500, SW2 9200-22000. Runs 70 hours on 2 "AA" size batteries (not included). Optional AC Adapter available. Weight: 6.5 oz. Size: 5" W x 3" H x 1.2" D. |
No, the alarm will not work if anything is plugged in the headphone socket.
|
No, when you press and hold the FAVORITES button the CCRadio SWP will bring up the entire preset station memory list. Once in the memory list, you have 3 ways to choose a station you have set into memory: 1. You can use the tuning dial to scroll through the preset numbers. 2. You can use the Up and Down tuning buttons to scroll through the preset numbers 3. You can direct-enter a preset station's number by pressing the FREQ button and then entering the 3-digit preset number.
|
FM 70.0 MHz is the default number on each preset. This number will appear on the display until a new frequency is programmed into that memory slot.
|
No, resetting the radio will not clear the memory presets; removing all power sources from the radio does not clear presets either.
|
You can set the sleep timer for 90, 85, 80, 75, 70, 65, 60, 55, 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10, or 5 minutes.
|
No, the last choice in the sleep timer selection is on. Select 'on' and the radio will continue to play continuously.
|
1. Turn radio on. 2. Press Band button to select FM, MW (AM), SW1 or SW2. 3. Find the station you would like to store in memory by one of the following methods: - Turning the tuning knob.
- Press the Freq button and then the frequency number using the numeric pad.
- Press and hold the Up/Down button for 1 second and it will scan until it picks up an active station.
4. Press the Mem/Time button. 5. The letters "CH" will flash and the number to the right is the memory location. You can select the memory with either of the following steps: - While the CH is flashing, turn the Tuning Knob to select the memory location (00, 01, 02, etc.)
- While the CH is flashing, press the number on the keypad to select the memory location (00, 01, 02, etc.)
6. Press the Mem/Time button again. Your station has been stored.
|
1. Press the Favorites button and use one of the following options when the M.SCAN shows in the upper right of the display: - Turn the Tuning Knob clockwise or counter-clockwise to locate memory (favorites) location (00, 01, 02, etc.).
- Press the Up or Down Tuning buttons to scroll through memory (favorites) locations (00, 01, 02, etc.).
- Key in the memory (favorites) location (000, 001, 002, etc.). You must key in the 3 digit number because the CCRadio-SWPocket can store up to 200 favorites.
When you press the Favorites button it will stay in the M Scan mode until you turn the radio off or you press the Favorites button again.
|
|
You cannot delete a preset once you have made one on the CC SWPocket. However, you can overwrite the previously used presets with any new station of your choice.

I have had this model since December 2012. I have purchased numerous radios from C.Crane and USUALLY find them to surpass the quality of any other brand on the market AND even be better than the descriptions listed on the Spec. sheet of the C.Crane website.
Today 4/3/13 I received an email promotion which featured this model and stating HOW SUPERIOR the reception is, even when traveling and staying in a hotel far from home.
WELL, as a current owner and almost daily user of the CC SW Radio
"in MY opinion" the statements made by the C.Crane staff are
WAY OVERSTATED.
For instance, I live in Davis which is about 10 miles from Sacramento, line of sight, no natural barriers (mountains, valleys, etc) in the way to block an FM signal. REALITY for me is I typically get marginal reception of full strength FM stations across 10 miles.
I usually listen to 94.7, 88.9 or 90.9 (two are NPR stations, the other is a regular format).
The reception can be horrible, even when I'm outside of any building. Signal drifts in and out and sometimes excessive static.
All these stations are full strength signals and I would expect that 10 to 15 miles line of sight should get great reception, day or night.
So, again my opinion, take what they say about the superior reception with a grain of salt.
Let your own experience be your guide.
I am NOT that satisfied.

Very good except the vol control is not fine enough, maybe it should be a knob vs. buttons. Also I have a weird problem that when the batteries get low the radio turns on and won’t turn off. I have to pull the batteries to turn it off. Otherwise an excellent radio.

We have owned this product for a month and have used it on a daily basis. We use it to replace a Sangean CC radio whose speaker failed.
This is a fine product with a good sound and a wide range of features that are easily used. Other reviewers have commented on the favorite stations feature. While a bit awkward it is effective if used as directed. I have not had the opportunity to receive short wave radio stations and agree that a weather station function would be preferred.
This radio's sound is pleasant for both voice and music broadcasts. Its size is wonderful for portability and easy movement from room to room or inside to outdoor listening. I would purchase this radio again and would strongly recommend to a friend.
Four star rating for less than intuitive yet effective "favorite" stations as well as lack of weather band.

The CC SW Pocket is easy to set up favorites, but I found it difficult to recall. The radio had more features that I needed. I returned the CC SW Pocket product for the smaller CC pocket. I just wanted a small radio to use when I worked in the yard so the CCPocket works great! Fits in my pocket or on my waist band. Simple to use and you can recall preset stations without looking at the radio.

I've had my Pocket radio for a couple of years now and listen to it every day. It's an excellent radio - I live in Salem, Oregon and other radios have a hard time to get a decent signal from Portland. My CC radio does not. The tone quality of both AM and FM is excellent. I'm very pleased.

This radio is much more than expected, considering its diminutive size. Excellent features and good battery life even though I use it often. It slips easily into a shirt pocket. It also reflects the quality I've come to expect from C. Crane Company products over the years. I am going to get the A/C adapter for it, and replace a bulky tabletop dial unit which doesn't have the direct input features this CC SW Pocket radio has. I find the "Lock" feature especially useful in order to keep the radio from inadvertently wandering about the 'dial', raising the volume unexpectedly, or turning itself on or off if bumped. Good deal for the money.

I've had this radio for a couple years but rarely use it because it's toooo hard to find my favorite stations. I have tried to set them to memory and in favorites but the instructions are too confusing and I end up having to scroll through 6,000 stations numbers to get to my favorite stations. I was just out in the garden working and accidentally hit an unknown button and the radio switched to another station. I had to come back in the house, dig out the book and figure out how to get it back. There HAS to be an easier way to do this!! The instruction book needs to be rewritten also -- too confusing. And I'm not a dummy. I'm a web designer!

For the most part, this is a great little radio. After using it for a few years, I find that I don't like the fact that push button controls get tiring to deal with and worst of all the power button gets turned on while in my carrying case and kills the batteries. Nothing worse for me because I use my radio for white noise to get to sleep at night which especially needed when traveling. I will have to remove the batteries from now on. This last summer I found dead batteries twice. Bummer when you are looking forward to listening the radio evening time.

I love everything about this radio, except one thing: The volume steps go from barely audible to too loud for some situations. It can be very annoying. There are times when I can't use the radio because of this major problem. The sound quality, it's ability to receive distant stations clearly, and it's battery life are definate pluses, but the volume control problem very often manages to get in the way of really enjoying this otherwise great radio. In fact, if it weren't for this one problem, it would be the perfect pocket radio. I have taken off two stars for this seriously annoying design flaw.

Great size and great price! I would give it a 5 full stars if not for two things that slightly annoy me: 1) the loud piercing sound when turning on, regardless of volume level (it's a high-pitched electronic squeal for half a second, just at power on); and 2) the volume at the lowest level is a bit too low, but the next step up (digital volume levels) is much too high. I really, REALLY wish there was a better "sweet spot" between the lowest and next up, as I listen to this at night while my wife tries to sleep...

Received this radio about a week ago and it performs very well. I bought it because of C. Crane's reputation for superior AM reception and have not been disappointed. I listen to a fringe AM station while I work and it performs nearly as well as my Sangean 909 (which I also bought from C Crane). It pleasantly surprised me by also pulling an FM station that defies any other "pocket" radio I have tried. On SW, I have been able to hear WWV sitting outside, but nothing else yet. An antenna jack might be a nice feature.
The tiny speaker puts out a very good sound. I suspect that battery life will be shorter using the speaker, but I mostly use headphones.
Good job on this set, C Crane. I would also like to own the CCRadio-EP.

I use this radio every day; even take it with me when I travel. I carry it from room to room at night to keep up with my favorite radio show. There’s always room to put it down where ever I am because of the small size, and I like having it on softly by my side rather than using loud volume from a stationary radio. But there are some very annoying downsides:
The lowest volume setting is too soft, the next is too loud. I read this before I bought it and thought how bad could it be. It’s bad. I often face the speaker down to mute it.
The alarm sets itself sometimes. Maybe because the button is next to the up volume button and gets depressed by mistake?
Whenever I need to reset anything or even find a station, need to get out the manual. Way more options than I'll ever use, and not very intuitive.
So, quality-very good, sound and reception are good, and it's holding up well now for over a year. But just enough flaws in the design to have me looking for a replacement.

I've had the radio a few months now and I like the radio overall but I have to agree with a few other reviewers. The volume is not right. It jumps too much when adjusting, especially at low levels. I'll hit my volume button three times before the volume changes and then it jumps a bunch. I like to listen to the radio at night when it's quiet but the lowest setting is too low, even with ear buds, and then next setting is too high. As I mentioned I have to hit the volume button three times before there is a change. If there were an intermediate level the radio would be perfect.

I have been using this radio all over the country and in Europe for two years. It runs for a long long time on two AA cells so no need to deal with an adapter. It is the ideal travel radio. The tuning is easy and the sound is surprisingly good for such a small unit. Extremely good value for the money. C. Crane does it again.

I went thru two of these the last few years. Good little units but the tuning knob got 'loose' on both units and without that feature, they are too hard to manipulate in the dark or with gloves. Size, features were good but we need a more durable tuning knob.

I ordered mine in 2008. The first one I received had a problem on the AM band. When I selected a channel a loud squeal/tone would be present on some frequencies (not standard heterodyne and not heard on my Superadio 2). At the time C. Crane tried to tell me it was normal but took the radio back after I insisted. I gave it a second chance and have been very pleased with the second one which came later in 2008. Though it is showing its age, it still works well on all bands. My only criticism is that the volume control settings need to be more granular as it goes from too soft to too loud in one click. I'm back to purchase one a birthday present for a friend. Overall, I find C. Crane's Customer service to be very high caliber (except for that first incident).

If you travel, this little radio is a wonderful alternative to the things that are passed off as radios in hotel rooms. It is amazingly sensitive for such a small unit. The only drawback is the volume controls that go from barely audible to unnecessarily loud in one step. Still, a good value.

Pluses
- Nice size.
- Very good sensitivity.
Minuses
- When you turn it on with the power button, and press Favorites, it goes to the last preset, but then it makes this squawk sound for 2 seconds, very odd.
- The buttons are noisy (loud pop-clicks), and some require extra force to push down, so it's inconsistent. So this is annoying and, when used in bed, will disturb any bed partner. Most TV remotes have soft quiet keypads, why can't this pocket radio?
- The preset tuning is amazing slow! You press up or down arrow for the next preset and then have to wait about 2 seconds before the station is heard! If you skip through 10 stations, it will take a total of 20 seconds for just the tuning. It should be instant, esp. for AM. I've never used such a slow digital-preset.
- The volume control is not continuously variable. You press the volume-up button and it goes up some pre-defined amount. I always found it to be either too loud or too soft.
- When you turn on the radio, it doesn't go into Favorites mode first -- you have to press the Favorites key. Since Favorites mode is the most likely power-on mode, why not start up in that mode?
- There is no switchable mono FM mode, so if you use a single (mono) earphone, you only hear the left channel of a stereo station.
This radio would be good in some rare situations, or maybe for traveling, but not for frequent use or bed-side.

I had heard of C. Crane years ago while listening to Coast to Coast on one of the USA's oldest stations WGY 810 in Albany, NY..
I finally decided to free up some dollars recently to buy a CC Radio.
I ordered a CC SW Pocket and I cannot say enough about how satisfied I am with this Radio.
It's difficult to find a instrument quality portable radio in these days of Ipad's and Smartphones that are encroaching the radio market but it's still very much alive and well... and now I can listen anywhere.
Very pleased with the product and the service I received from C Crane.. very professional.

This is an amazing portable radio. Very good audio for such a small size and very good sensitivity and selectivity. Plenty of presets are available. Build quality is very good. Batteries last a long time. My only complaint is the volume control is overly sensitive, it goes from very soft to almost too loud with just one or two presses. Other than that, I recommend this radio.

While this radio functions, the simple things are needlessly complicated - using presets, for example. Also, the granularity for the volume is very poor. It goes from too low to hear then one step up is way to loud. In the end, I was very disappointed in the radio and found an alternative.

First, you need to be an engineer to operate this thing. Next, you also better have a good memory to remember all the instructions…unless you use it everyday. But after 4 months it stopped responding to the controls anyway so I had to send it back.

Reception is excellent for a small radio. The only distraction is the loud squelch noise this model makes when you turn it off.

The first SWPocket I received failed after awhile in service. C. Crane stood behind it 100% with a new replacement. I like to listen to AM talk radio at work at a manufacturing plant. It has excellent reception even inside the plant. I am very impressed and pleased with the performance of this little radio.

Have had this radios for several years and it is OK but not great. It does not receive distant stations well even with the DX switch. It also seems to consume batteries rather quickly.

I bought this for when my power is out, which is frequent. I took it to the hospital with me for hip replacement surgery. In spite of all the RFI in the hospital it worked beautifully. Over a hundred hours run time on a pair of batteries. It was knocked off my table four times by nurses, four foot drops onto linoleum floors. No cracks or chips out of the case, not even a scratch. I love it.

Good, not great. AM reception is no better than the Sangean DT 400. SW reception is poor with the standard antenna. The best results are produced by using the old standby of holding the antenna near a power cord or phone cord. The absence of memory tuning is hard to get used to as well. The way the tuning is accomplished is fine once you get used to it. The tone is good and it is versatile, but not a great receiver

Overall, I have been favorably impressed with this little radios capability. The only glitch that keeps it from getting a five rating is its volume setting mechanism. The electronic volume control goes from 1 bar (too soft) to 3 bars (too loud). It refuses to set to 2 bars. Otherwise it is a very, very good product and value for the money.

Good radio, good reception. Here are the changes I would make. It would be nice just to press the button number 1 and the channel would go to whatever station you program the button. Sort of like a car radio, get to the station you like, press down and hold 1, and it programs the station in 1.
And, I would make a second small volume knob under the tuning knob.

This is a nice little radio for the price. The sensitivity is just about right, but selectivity is somewhat subject to overloading/interference. Like so many others, my tuning knob decoupled/broke (on day one!) rendering manual tuning inoperative. It’s not easy to get at or fix. Entering frequency with the keypad and/or using the up/down keys is just not the same as manual tuning when exploring!

Have bought other stuff from cc which was good. One ATS 818 was best radio of all. I was looking around for another radio and thought I would review the SW Pocket.
This radio worked average for about a month. I bought specifically for one vacation. I thought it was sort of complex to work and never very good on SW.
I used it on vacation and put it away. When I got it out again, I found that the FM would not move. It stayed on one channel regardless of the attempt to change it either by tuning or digital. I tried reset, batteries, adapter, etc. I called cc but it was out of warranty and the person I called had never seen this problem.
Alas, I thought I''d just use it for MW and SW, but then the tuning knob just broke and wouldn''t work. Now it''s about useless.

Considering its features, pound-for-pound this little radio has the POTENTIAL of being the world''s best for its size. Last year I purchased one, but had to return it due to a couple of small, albeit VERY irritating (but correctable) design flaws:
1. When turning the radio on it emits a weird, screech-like beep sound, ESPECIALLY if the volume was even moderately high the last time it was powered off. Talk about a RUDE awakening when it''s in "Clock Radio" mode!!
2. The incremental levels of its digital volume control are MUCH too wide.
For what it was worth, I included a letter to Bob Crane requesting that these easily fixable problems be corrected as I would still like to own one.

I too enjoy my CC SW Pocket radio. I have had it for three years now. To solve the volume control problem I bought a pair of ear buds with a volume control inline so I can adjust the volume any level I want. Just push up the volume with the button on the radio and turn it down with the inline volume control. They make great products.

Hi, I just opened my new CC Spot and CC SW Pocket for Christmas. I love them!!! The spotlight was bought for the house but now I am going to order another for the truck. I love the strobe feature. Thanks to the fold out stand, it will be handy for working under the cars or flat tires at night. The house one will be handy for working on pipes under the sink or up in the attic. I like the rubberized housing. As for the pocket radio, that has the greatest sound and reception I have ever seen. You have all the others beat!! Can't wait to take it on trips. :>) Have a Happy New Year and I look forward to doing business with you in 2013. :)

I think this little radio has the best reception ever. I have tested this by being able to tune in KSTE Radio 560 out of SF. This is the sister station to KGO 810 I believe---but for some reason 560 shuts down the power at 5pm so It has been soooo hard to get this station after 5. I could get it online and also on my CC Observer (but not very strong) but on the Pocket-it is clear and strong. Now I can listen after 5pm on this station ---Michael Savage is on there you know. Thank you for this good product.

I recently bought a CC Radio-2 and an SW Pocket Radio from Cabela?s. Man, do I love these radios! Where have you been all my life. Your products do everything they are advertised to do. I've been a radio lover since I was a boy in the 60's, especially AM radio. I took my little transistor radios with me everywhere but I never had radios with the reception that your radios have. And the pocket short wave has opened up another whole world of radio enjoyment. Thanks for excellent well-made products.

Nice radio with a nice sound for a small package and I really like the FAVORITES option. But here''s my main issue - I''ve never seen a digital clock that gained about 15 minutes a month. I''ve owned my "CC SW Pocket" for about 4 months now and I''ve had to reset the time 3-times so far. Significant if you use the ALARM feature. Are you sure this thing doesn''t have a squirrel cage in it?

Having several table portable radio''s from CCrane, including an excellent early CCRadio (AM/FM/W), I bought the SW Pocket many years ago. I''ve never liked it because the volume control never seemed to work right. Of the many digital volume step-levels, the lowest of many is too low and the next up is too loud and the rest are uselessly loud. Likewise the bar-display indicators only increase with every other volume-step. I PRESUME this sloppy design-"feature" has been fixed. -- I never sent it back, as otherwise the radio does what it is supposed to: receives AM/FM fine, sounds okay, battery life is fine, etc.

Shopped around & all I found was over-priced junk. Decided 2 invest my Social Security $$$ in this little baby. Had 2 call in & ask 4 a little help w/the programming, but it's easy when you know how. Love the "sleep feature." I listen 2 the radio at nite, & the radio plays for 90 minutes & shuts off automatically! If I'm still awake, I just push the button & start again! No worrying about the radio being on all nite! Also like the light that comes on with the touch of a button 2 see the time, station, etc. High winds blew down power lines & I was suddenly without POWER. I just unplugged the adapter & my SW Pocket played on the batteries 4 a solid 12 hours! What surprised me MOST: I clicked it onto an FM station 2 play some music. I turned it UP...& UP some MORE. It sounded great, 4 such a small radio!! I was amazed. I even picked up some ear buds 4 it & the stereo comes in quite nicely. The ONLY thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the VOLUME control button. It goes from being barely audible, 2 too loud 4 late nite listening. I literally had it ON MY PILLOW & I still couldn't hear it very well. Will probably purchase the Pillow Speaker from you folks. Otherwise, I do LOVE my SW Pocket!

I got a C.RANE CCRadio-SW from Universal Radio. The reason I got it is for the FM external antenna input. I want to pick up a community station, WERU, out beyond their signal. It works good. I?m extremely pleased. There are only 2 things that need to get tweaked a little. The Volume, Bass, Treble & RF Gain need a white line on the knobs so you can see where they are. The display light stays on continuous until you change the frequency. Then it shuts off until you turn it on again. I want it to just stay on after I turn it on! I like everything else about it. Especially the 100kHz tuning on FM because WERU comes in best at 89.94; too much noise at 89.90. Your CCRadio-SW is better than my Sangean 909X on AM and FM. Shortwave too but I don?t use it.

I received the CCRadio-SWP for Christmas and I'm impressed with the performance, functions, fit, & quality. After inserting batteries and turning it on for the first time early evening, I tuned in AM 1500 KSTP (ESPN) in St. Paul, Minnesota (I live south of Seattle, WA) with no help from the Select-A-Tenna. I'm glad that it has push button volume versus a slide control. I also like the side tuning knob. My previous pocket radio was a Grundig YB-P2000 (a total disappointment). Prior to the Grundig was a Sony ICF-SW1 which was outstanding and in daily use for over a decade. My only possible gripe with the SWP so far is that the push buttons don't operate smoothly. SSB would be nice, but I like the SWP for the price. Hopefully I'll be using this for 10 years or more. I'm a HAM, XTAL and antique radio buff.

2011 Pocket AM/FM/SW is MUCH improved mechanically from the one I bought ~2008! Now has reliable button electrical contact.
[Threw old one away after a few months.]
This one's User Interface is GOOD, barely needs instruction book. Sensitivity is fair on FM & SW. CCrane's linear 200 memories allow MNEMONIC storage!! We store WWV 5000 [time] in mem "050". 102.5 MHz in mem "102" , 103.7 in "104", etc.
($150 "Eton" has better sensitivity. BUT. 7-memory-blocks-per-page is UNUSABLE. Special modes send you to reading.)
It's speaker plays in my shirt pocket as I walk.
Last week the radio fell into the dogs' water dish as I leaned to fill it. Pulled batts, put on warm air register a few hours. Buttons & even speaker's cone OK!

I don't understand the reviews from people who say the volume control is messed up and goes from 1 bar (not loud enough) to 3 bars (too loud) as if they wish they could select 2 bars. Mine works perfectly and goes from 1 to 3 to 5 to 7 bars and as I push on the "increase" button (not holding it down, intermittently pushing), it seems almost infinitely adjustable along the way, as far as the level is concerned. No, it won't stop on 2, 4, or 6, but it doesn't need to because as I push, the volume increases in a nice linear fashion. Great little radio, nice sound from the speaker, and perfect for my listening to talk radio around the house.

Just a brief note to let you know how pleased with my new CC Pocket Radio. I don't listen to Coast to Coast show anymore, now that Art Bell is gone, but I remembered his endorsement of your products and know why. My new little radio does a great job and I love the features. I'm now scouring your catalogue to see if there is anything else I can use. Thank you. Incidentally, I neglected to mention the intuitive nature of the radio. Signal reception is exceptional as is FM. The sound crisp and crystal clear.
It?s really a neat radio. Lastly, the video explaining the radios use and features has been very useful. Great idea.

I purchased this radio several years ago and I am very pleased with it''s reception, which is excellent and it''s sound which is remarkably good in the AM and FM bands and it''s reliability which is outstanding! It''s Short Wave reception isn''t very good and I stopped trying to use it. Putting the stations into memory is too complicated to do and once done to use. It is ultimately not needed. I have never figured out how to remove them from the memory to start over and I simply ignore it now. The instructional video for these procedures is almost impossible to hear! I no longer consider the ability of a compact radio to store stations in memory a selling point unless it is very simple to do as in a car radio. You are better off just scrolling through the AM or FM bands to stations you are familiar with. This radio is worth the price because of it''s AM and FM reception and sound. The rest of it''s amenities are overstated.

This radio is a big disappointment. I have purchased items from CCrane in the past and always been completely satisfied. But CCrane put out a BIG DUD with this one. This radio is extremely complicated to use and gives an extremely high pitch sound when first turning on, so much so, that I can't listen to it with earbuds at night, which is why a bought it in the first place. It does still work and is in brand new condition, because it's just too hard to use, and been lying in my drawer for years now....

Finally, a company that advertises what they actually sell, and not some dream product. My first experience with your company was the SWPocket that i bought for my wife after a power failure. It performs better than a larger, more expensive radio that i have had for years. The CC Witness follows in its footsteps; it performs well, and outdoes the description in the catalog. Since I am more of a radio fan than the idiot box, it is in use most of the time. Your employees were friendly, helpful, and seemed to enjoy their work. C Crane is now my sole source provider for my radio needs.

To my friends at C.Crane...I have to tell you your little SW pocket far exceeded my expectations and it is my constant companion. I made myself an 18 ft. wire antenna for it and the first signal I picked up was from Australia at early sunup. Good grief! On two AA batteries? Well, it did it and I speak the truth. Maybe the signal bounced from cloud cover to ocean many times before reaching my jewel of a pocket radio, but it happened. I wish I recall the call numbers of that first reception, but I’m all up and down the frequencies now and I’m well informed and entertained because of your fine product.

I have one complaint about my order for the CCRadio-SWPocket and Softspeaker Pillow Speaker. Why did you let me go for such a long time before I purchased them? These two items have solved so many of my problems dealing with sleep-loss that I am constantly, nightly, grateful for the features incorporated in them. I didn’t believe that a product would be available which so neatly met my needs. Now I know better!! I could not be more pleased with them.

I received my SWP about a week ago and I am very happy with it. The sensitivity and selectivity are much better than I was expecting and are really excellent for a pocket size radio. I bought the radio mostly to listen to distant AM stations at night, and it does this really well. I like the firm buttons, since they don't get accidentally pressed in my pocket. Being accustomed to an analog tuner, I really like the station memory features. Some of the volume steps are a bit coarse, so the extra headphone volume control is very helpful. I am hereby retiring my antique analog tuned portable. Thanks for a great pocket radio!

Have had your CCRadio-SWP now for a while. Darn good little radio. Complaints? Sure, nothing is perfect! - Volume control goes from very quiet to much louder in one push of the button at the beginning. Would be OK, but I have friends sharing the house and I listen to the (great A.M. reception) late at night. A major concern. -The "tilt up" feature that allows the radio to tilt up a bit from prone position is cool, but for me it was broken in a week (I fell asleep and rolled over on the radio- my bad)- next version maybe engineer a "break-away" feature that would allow the little lift stand to not break it's tiny pin- fasteners, but simply be re-connected when some big lug like myself inadvertently stresses the plastic pins? -The Short Wave is not why I bought the radio, but I have had no luck getting a signal. Same experience I had in 1960 trying to find a SW signal on my early '50s big vacuum tube console. -The "light" (button activated) is way too dim, at least for a 61 year old! I can't read the "screen" without turning on a lamp. I expect the extra battery draw from a bright, functional "nite lite", so that's not a concern for me. Love the AM strength, the sleep option, the sound quality, the protective case, digital tuning, the price, quick shipping, and ability to give your marketing dept. specific info on where/who turned me on to your stuff (KGO radio, Dr. Bill Wattenburg show...about a 4.5 hour drive away but almost always available w/CC radio!). Thanks and keep up the good work, it's appreciated!

I just received my CCRadio-SWPocket and I am immediately impressed! I have an OLD Tozai radio (bought in 1991) with similar features, but they don't have a new model....I have been looking for a couple years! I heard your advertisement on KMOX radio (5 AM) and checked you out on line. I have HEARD of your company but just never made a connection. I'm really glad I did. I can just tell immediately that the QUALITY is there. I was looking for SMALL, BATTERY operated, with a SLEEP and ALARM. Being DIGITAL and programmable (that was easy) were just terrific bonuses! Thank You!!!! I really like this radio!! I have purchased several AM-FM-SW radios and they seem to be hard to get things done and also VERY long owners manuals that you are always trying to find things in every time you use it. This radio is Very user friendly and easy to use and great short owners manual that is easy to follow. REALLY LIKE THIS RADIO!! Now I have a Grundig 5 and others that will be on the web sales list. This radio is what I have looked for and finally found. Thank You. Just to let you know I REALLY like this radio and want to thank you for knowing what some of us want and getting it made. THANK YOU!

I wanted to post a review of the SW Pocket radio. This is a great little radio. The only thing I see wrong with it is the alarm (BUZZ Mode) is not loud enough. I wear hearing aids. There is no volume control for the buzzing alarm. I did not buy for that reason so I am totally happy with my purchase!! I thought I would pass this on to any one that might buy it for a alarm. Thanks again for a great product!

I received my CCSWP radio yesterday, and just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying it! I can't understand the negative reviews I've read because I can't find anything I don't like about it. The AM reception (my greatest interest) is excellent. The sound from a small speaker is also excellent. I don't even have a problem with the volume control. Thanks for a great product. P.S. Did I mention how much I like this radio?

I recently purchased this radio, the CCRadio-SWP and very pleased with it and surprised when it arrived, how small it actually was and sounded so great with all the memory also. 200 presets, wow, you have great stuff always.... Thanks, a long-time customer.

I am thrilled with this radio! It is so much more convenient ala "favorites" & memory than that cheap a** Kaito 1101 I had to replace once with customer service that found it sitting on a shelf for two months...back in 07. As always the quality of service & products from Mr. Bob are a direct reflection of his expertise & finesse and it ripples all the way to the phone ops. Is there a technical support or engineer I can touch base with in Fortuna during the week? Have a nice weekend. I will be ordering more "stuff? soon...love that wind-up sparkler thanks.

I recently purchased the CCRadio-SWP and have been impressed with the reception!
I had a problem hearing low volume with the pillow speaker but the problem was solved by using the
in-line volume control headphone cable which was sent promptly after I explained my problem. Great
customer support. I own three radios - CCRadio Plus, CCRadio-SWP, and the CCWitness. I use all
three radios for different purposes.

If you are looking for a good, very small radio, the CCRadio-SWP does the job. Good speaker for such a small radio. I travel
and this radio isn’t much bigger then a deck of cards. For the money a great radio you can take anywhere.

I recently received a CCRadio-SWP and I love this little radio! It has better sound than much larger radios and is
the only radio I have, besides the CCRadio Plus, that I can actually hear talk clearly. I would suggest, however,
that the volume control needs to have a finer adjustment, as it is usually either too loud or too soft. Otherwise,
it is the perfect "go anywhere" radio.

I recently purchased a CCRadio-SWP online, and I am quite pleased with it. The radio exceeds my expectations for it.
I have moved to Reno from San Diego County, and I missed listening to KNX, the all-news AM station in Los Angeles.
Now I can listen at night with almost next-door reception, and I am often able to hear the station during the daylight
hours. I have sent to you for a shortwave antenna so my wife, who is a Thailand native, can listen to programs in
her language. I trust it will work as well as the radio. I am very happy with C. Crane so far, and will continue
to buy from you. Also, while listening to KNX, I have heard your ads. I think it was a smart move for you to advertise
in that market. You might want to include the SWP radio. It gets terrific mileage out of two AA batteries.
Thank you for a fine radio.

This is a great little radio. Very portable and sturdy. The memory capacity and digital dial-in features are excellent.
Reception is excellent, even (unexpectedly) working in my office! Only drawback is the volume control, which is not
capable of being fine-tuned. It also makes a great alarm-clock!

I just received my CCRadio SWPocket radio and have to admit that it has thus far met
nearly every one of my expectations. Functionality, features, size, and of course sound quality are all top notch. My only
complaint, and it's small, is the carrying case. While completely functional for transport, if you offered something sturdier,
with a belt clip or loop, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I work as a cable splicer for a telecommunications company and
love having the radio tucked in my pocket, listening on earphones but would prefer to strap it to my belt when a pocket isn't
handy.

Just want to say that I got my CCRadio-SWP today and I have never heard or held in my hand the quality of such
a small radio. It's Beautiful, very smart for the user to use and sounds great. Thanks for a great product.
