Best Audio for its Size The Gozo was specifically developed for unusually high fidelity audio in a small package. The simple design can make a cosmic blend with AM/FM radio and your smart phone that doesn't have good audio. It produces perhaps the best full range audio for a radio its size because of an additional passive radiator. FM, as well as AM, is superb when listening to a strong local station. You'll also enjoy the full extent of your portable players digital music library by connecting it to the input jack on the back. The input jack is tuned for just this kind of device and will give you unbelievable sound. A sturdy handle/stand and precise Vernier dial complete the picture for this radio's inspirational audio. Weight: 1.4 Lbs (without batteries) |
- Beautiful, full range audio
- Powerful FM reception, Good AM reception
- High Quality AUX input jack for portable players (6-inch long, 1/8" Audio Patch Cord included)
- Backlit, Analog Dial — activated when tuning
- Adjustable handle / back-stand
- AC Adapter included or 6 AA batteries (not included)
- Headphone jack
- Size: 7.3" W x 4.2" H x 3.25" D

|
A set of AA Alkaline batteries rated at 2500 mAh would provide roughly 12 hours of runtime if the radio is played at a moderate volume level.
|
|
The dial light turns off 11 seconds after the power is turned on, the band is changed or adjusting the tuning.

Worked okay for about a month, and then developed a "thumping sound" that makes it impossilbe to use.

While the FM reception and sound quality fully met my expectations, the AM reception and sound quality are totally inadequate. I will use the GOZO for FM, and will stream my favorite AM station on my laptop which has "Beats" audio and is much better sound quality than the GOZO.

I pre-ordered the CC Gozo after talking with a factory rep in October. I probably received one of the first units to be delivered to consumers. I wanted to use this radio for a couple of months rather than post just a one-day comment. First, I have been a portable radio fan since the days of the RCA two-D cell AM radios of the 1960s. I have had five GE Super Radios over the years. Each has given acceptable service, but I have steadily watched the quality decline. I call the Gozo my new "mighty-mite." The sound quality rivals and I must say sometimes exceeds the best of the much-larger GE Supers. I keep the Gozo on my bedside stand and I listen to it each morning and night. The sound is crisp and concise. I listen to jazz, classical and some contemporary music. It is great for voice, too. As far as radio station pulling power, the rep was frank about its AM power. That is OK with me because our AM stations in the Schenectady NY area are not what I am interested in listening to anyway. I do find the Gozo is acceptable for AM. I find the FM pulling power of the Gozo to be more than adequate for my needs. I listen to a weak-power college FM station one mile away. There is no signal bleed. I also listen to a Vermont station about 100 miles away. The Gozo picks up WMHT and WAMC, our two public radio stations, loud and very clear. I can't ask for more than that. The cabinet quality appears good. I don't like the chrome-screw arrangement for the batteries. I think it spoils the clean look of the unit. That said, I am still running on the first set of batteries after many hours of use. Overall, the Gozo is a Little Giant of a radio. Great job to the folks at C.Crane.

Received mine today. I was tempted to give it a 5 star rating. But really now, how much in life is perfect? Sound is superb at this price point. For me the AM is better than on the CCRadio-EP, however, I find that AM is really dependent on a lot of variables and your mileage may vary. FM is full sounding and the tone control works well. Radio feels solid. I like the way the light on the dial comes on as your tuning. Tuning knob works properly for this kind of tuning, meaning that it works slowly and stiffly. Makes a fine AM/FM desktop radio for those of us with little space (I live in a studio apt.). My review must be tempered by the fact that my experience with the unit is one day. Controls are plastic & I prefer metal controls (I do not expect metal at this price point). I would have preferred that it was not manufactured in Red China. I understand it would have cost more if it was manufactured in the USA, Japan, Taiwan, or another USA ally, but I would be willing to pay more. My reasons for being suspicious of China is political and practical. Mechanically, will this unit stand the test of time? We will not know for a while. My initial reaction to the radio is I am pleased with my purchase.

I just got mine today and I have to say that I am AMAZED at the sound on this little thing! It sounds incredibly rich and full. I have my iPod Nano clipped on the side of the handle (it fits perfectly) and plugged into the input port and the clarity is incredible. I bought the CC Gozo to fill the gap between my larger radios, including my CCRadio Plus, which sound really good but are a little large to carry outside or put in my backpack and and my pocket radios which are very portable but I mainly use for talk radio because they sound too tinny for serious music listening. From what I can tell so far the CC Gozo fills the bill perfectly. In terms of sound quality it punches well above its' weight; it sounds Bose-like (which is high praise considering that Bose is widely considered to make some of the best compact audio equipment on the planet!)
In terms of build quality it seem extremely well-made. When I took it out of the box I wasn't sure at first if it was made of plastic or metal! I also like the fact that the battery cover is screwed down so you know it won't come off (the battery cover bows out slightly in the middle once tightened down but it's not a major issue.) The backlit tuning dial is a very nice touch and the vernier tuning makes it easy to center the dial on even narrow band AM stations, which can be maddeningly difficult to tune accurately on tuners that are too touchy. The tuner is stiff to turn, which means once you put it on a station you know it's going to say there until you change it. The wire handle is a sweet design feature also, it gives it a sort of retro look.
In terms of modern radios I think it compares favorably to radios of the past. I collect radios and one of my prized possessions is a 1953 Zenith Trans Oceanic portable shortwave radio I restored, so I know whereof I speak (I think). All in all I like the CC Gozo a lot and would recommend it to anyone!

They are not kidding about the audio quality! I have never heard music like this from a radio this size. It is about the size of the transistor radios from the 1960's but sounds like a boom box! I'd say it is incredible and worth owning.

Very poor AM long range reception. Difficult to tune. Suggest purchasers avoid this product and buy the CCRadio-2.

I received my new CCGOZO just a few days ago. I had some idea of what to expect as I was able to see a prototype when I visited the CC showroom a month or two ago.
So far I am very pleased with my purchase. The cabinet has a nice solid feel. The controls all work smoothly although the main tuning is a bit stiff. The CCGOZO comes with a linear wall transformer power supply so there is no noise from the supply as there can be with switching supplies. There is also a short cable included for use with an iPod/MP3 player or other aux input device.
Radio performance is better than I expected. AM and FM sensitivity and selectivity are almost as good as my original CC radio. (The CC2 radio would probably be a notch or two above in performance). The GOZO tuning dial calibration is very good. Speaking of the tuning dial, the LED backlight is a nice touch. When you first turn the radio on the dial light comes on for a short period and then goes out. As you tune to a new station the dial light comes on again.
The best part of all is the outstanding audio quality from such a small radio. The audio is clear and bright. The tone control will fine tune the audio to individual tastes. Also, it has plenty of volume for its size

I just received my GOZO today. All I can say is WOW! It feels very solidly built. It has a nice quality feel to it. As far as the sound goes it is amazingly good given the size of the radio. The tuning dial is really neat, it lights up only when tuning then it fades out. It feels like it is geared so you can slowly tune in a station without zooming by it. I also like the metal handle on it. It is built to be used and carried. The handle makes you want to pick it up and bring it with you.
There are only 2 things about this radio I noticed.
1 - The stereo patch cord they include so that you can plug in an MP3 player is kind of poor quality. It causes static & dropped channel if you move cable around which will be the case if you are holding onto your mp3 player to select music. This is not a big deal since I plan to get a longer high quality cable so that I can set the radio on table and set back with player in hand.
2 - I really like the industrial looking battery compartment door with its 2 big head screws used to hold 6 AA batteries. The only thing I noticed is that the door seems to be a little flimsy in the fact that when the screws are secured all the way down the center of the door bows out from the pressure of the batteries. This isn't a real big deal since it seems to hold the batteries secure enough, it is just a fit and finish thing that bothers me about it.
So far I am very happy with this radio. It has only been a few hours and I plan on putting through it's paces. I will come back with an update on battery life and head phone use and anything else I can report on.
Good job C.Crane! The wait for this radio so far seems to have been worth it.

Just wanted to take the time out to tell you how much I am enjoying the new CC Gozo Radio. Compact, cool-looking, fully-functional "just a radio" that gets more than a few admiring looks as it sits at my work desk. It has replaced my 3+ year old CCRadio-SW (which I'll be taking back home to take better advantage of its advanced capabilities), where I think it's a better fit. I was originally going to drag my (18-year-old) GE Superadio out of the mothballs - until I saw the CC Gozo. A job well done, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you very much.

Just wanted to drop a note of gratitude to you for the design and function of the GOZO! I love it. The tone is so thick while listening to AM stations that it reminds me of the old Crosley and General Electric consoles my parents and grandparents had back in the day, in the '40s and '50s. It lets me relive my youth all over again, and despite the interference from other sources that don't allow me the luxury of DXing anymore, I spend my late nights/early mornings listening and enjoying this little beast! Plugging my iPod into it also gives me that old sense of having the old cassette player plugged into my one speaker late at night... Yay! Thanks! Dennis Woo Operations Director KTEP-FM, El Paso

I have used my GOZO radio for over a week and continue to be very impressed with its performance. FM sesitivity is exceptional and the sound continues to amaze me. A bonus for me has been the AUX setting which is better than any portable radio I have owned and provides superior sound. The sturdy feel gives me confidence that it will continue to perform. At last a product that does exactly what is claimed. I have been happy to show it off to my friends and it has not disappointed.

I love my new Gozo radio. The portability and simplicity of this product is wonderful. It has great reception. I listen to the Coast2Coast radio program every night here in Alabama with no problems at all.
Thanks CCrane for another great product. This was my fifth radio purchase and I'm very satisfied.
